Capturing a signature on a tablet?

Somehow I was wrangled into investigating capturing a signature on a tablet laptop.

With my current lenovo x61, I can “sign” a line on a form but it just turns into regular font, with no proof there was an actual signature.

Is there any software available that captures an actual signature?

MS Paint, save as gif

What program are trying to capture into?

We have a PDF version of a Service Report we need customers to sign while we are in the field.

and by “turns into a regular font” you mean it recognizes the letters in the signature and types it out?

Yes.

We want/need to show the persons actual signature.

Then it sounds like you are using a text input and the tablet ‘keyboard’ is popping up to take and translate the writing, have you tried using acrobat in annotate mode (pencil tool)?
with the Acrobat Reader I think it only works if you saved the original file with document rights, with Acrobat Pro it’ll be there regardless…
Then just save-as the docs as they are sighed (as to not overwrite your original template)
