External RAID 1 Case Recommendations
I want to build an external RAID array for backup / extra storage for my laptop. There’s a lot of cases and none of them are brands I really know so any suggestions?
specs I’m looking for the case to support (pretty standard):
- preferably 3.5"
- 2x disk (or more for upgrades)
- 500gb-1tb RAID I
- external
- a/c powered
- USB (not firewire)
Thanks!
Heres two options from newegg for you:
Also check out ones made by Buffalo
that first one looks kind of shady from the review, haha. second one is slightly pricey. i’ve seen good ones for ~$70
(it’s 2.5" but a lot cheaper…)
When I go down to my local Fry’s (or even PC-Club) they have TONS of inexpensive case only solutions and more complete units like the Buffalo units..
Want to check out all the units? Go here, it’s a great site..
Go under the "NAS" section at the top
no frys on the east coast =( only overpriced monster cables at best buy
And I had an AMS single drive enclosure that I was very happy with. I had to deal with customer service and it was a pleasant experience. I would trust them again.
I’m sure there are better deals if you look, thats just what I saw on newegg
