how to password protect a folder and/or drive

I have 2 drives on my computer. One I use for music/video/backup. Is there a way to password protect that drive from other accounts on my computer?
right-click, properties.. security tab. remove all users listed except yourself. Be very careful though you may lose access completely if you don’t ensure you are on that list with full access
there is no security tab. I see general, tools, hardware, sharing, quota.

Simple file sharing?

oh sweet now i got it!
Hmmm well i need some help with this too, I just need a program or something (ive seen it done before) where the folder itself only (not the files) is password protected, you click the folder, enter password, bam files are there. what i have the folder can be open then all files are password protected individually, which sucks.

Why? Aren’t you the only one using your PC?
i have the most relevant question in the thread so far.

Can’t blame the man for not being frank.
srsly, someone give us a good answer. i could use this informaton too. i need to access my files from multiple computers around the house, so everyone may be able to see the folders. but only I want access to some of those folders.
read the fucking thread, instructions are provided..if you are using horseshit like xp home, go buy some security software
I am using horseshit like XP Home. And I did read the fucking thread.

And you can’t share a folder and ALSO make it private. You don’t have any other free solution? You didn’t even recomment security software that would do what I wanted, so why even bother posting?

You can boot into safemode and mess with the permissions in XP home. You can also use something like xcacls.

Here is a more specific question… does anyone know of a third party program, free or not, that lets you set a folder password and then subsequently enter it directly from the windows shell (IE. the right click menu) so that the program does not have to be running all the time? And I do not want to hear "the question has been answered", I don’t want to have to hassle with setting up user accounts and logging in and out all the damn time
There used to be a program called Microsoft Private Folder or something that would do exactly that… password protect a folder.

EDIT -

You need to pass windows validation to donwload it.
