Laptop won’t boot windows even after reinstall, memtest freezes
My friend has a win XP laptop that freezes as it gets to the windows screen. He reformatted and reinstalled windows and it froze when windows asked him what time zone he was in. He tried memtest off of an ubuntu live CD and memtest froze 11 minutes in. Any ideas? Need any more info?
try both memtest86 and memtest86+
a known issue of memtest is that it hangs when legacy USB is enabled.
disable it in the bios.
try diff sticks of ram.
could also be overheating and power issues.
