need help reviving a dead external
it spins up, it’s recognized as a drive by windows, but i cant explore the contents and every time i try, it freezes. I tried looking at it in disk management, and it shows as healthy, but it has no format any idea what this could be?
Strange. I would boot to an Ubuntu Live CD and see what I see there. If you can access your stuff from that, get it off there ASAP. It’s possible something got corrupted. If not, there are probably some drive recovery programs you can look into. Did you try it in other computers? All the plugs are in firmly?
Very last resort (don’t do this yet, I’m sure there will be people who can give you plenty of other options): You could try a quick format and then file recovery, but it’s not the best idea and it’s only if oyu get super, super desperate. I’m not even sure it would work.
Try getdataback for ntfs….its on all the major torrent sites. If the drives spinning it will get something
tried it on a diff pc?
rule out interface problems,… try a diff cable. if you can, take the drive out from the enclosure and hook it up as an internal.
Was just about to suggest this.
