Need help with remote desktop on same network
We have a new employee and the owner wants me to be able to watch him to make sure he isn’t goofing off. We are on the same network and I just need to be able to see his screen. Is there a freeware program out there that will help with this? Both computers are running XP Pro SP3.
I used to use this for remote control of a system, but I think it puts a notice on screen that someone is remotely controlling your system. It is great though because if you have local admin access on a system, you can install the appropriate agents remotely.
but, shouldn’t the manager be able to tell if his employees are accomplishing anything? this isn’t really something that needs a technical solution and spying on a new employee is really fucking ghey. the fucking guy should learn how to manage.
tightvnc only puts an icon in the clock area, though it will give you full access to his machine, so you would probably want to monitor it on a pc other than your pc, so you arent accidentally moving his mouse or something like that
You can force your way onto remote assistance too – but I’m not sure what, if any notifications the user sees. Requires a reg entry change and full admin access. I’d have to look it up though – we toyed with the idea but too many people have local admin privileges – figured it would get abused.
How about some kind of logger app that will take screenshots every set amount of time?
:roflugh:
I found IremotePC and it seems to work pretty good. I put it on his computer after he left the other day. We found out that he likes to sit at his desk and not do anything, and I mean anything at all, for at least an hour strait each day. Its the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen. Whatever, I’m not going to write him up for it, just give him a few simple tasks to complete to cut that down to maybe 30 minutes a day.
Does it run in stealth mode? Or is he just that much of an idiot that he wouldn’t know software has been installed that is watching him?
uh, have you actually given him anything to work on so far?
You must be new to IT… most IT dont work that much.
he walks out of the building and leaves for an hour.
I like to call that lunch
