Network Timeouts – Windows
You’ve all been there – you click on a resource that is no longer there and it sits for 30 seconds trying to find it. I’m usually pretty good at googling this shit and figuring it out for myself, but I cannot for the life of me find the setting to reduce this timeout. Halp!
yeah, i hate that, because if you are on a relatively slow machine it will keep you from doing anything else
Well specifically, if you script something that involves a resource that isn’t always online for a very good reason, it makes it take 30 times longer to run. This has been around Windows for years and it never seems to get addressed – and what’s weirder is I can’t find any info on it.
This bug gives me fits…along with the RDP/terminal services bug where if you’ve enabled disk drive sharing through the session and right-click something, Windows will move the entire contents of the clipboard between client/server before showing the context menu…whether you wanted to paste or not.
