Outlook 2003

Here at work my Outlook 2003 connects to an exchange server to get mail.

Thing is every morning it doesn’t respond for about 20mins while it’s updating folders or whatever it does. I’ve tried right clicking the taskbar icon and ‘cancel server request’, several times but it doesn’t seem to help.

After a while it’s perfectly useable again.

Any ideas?
You should be complaining to your IT department about it - that’s not normal.
lol…I use outlook 2003 every day and it starts right up in the morning. this is for a company that has many thousands of employees too. It should not take that long.

Do you store your mail on your local machine or on the exchange server?
yeah, if you have a shit ton of mail and calendar events and you are on roaming profile it may take it quite a while to get everything synced up
Down at the bottom-right of the window, where it says “Connected”, right-click on that and choose “Download headers first, then messages” and “On slow connection, only download headers” from the popup menu that appears.

Also, make sure that your .PST and .OST files don’t have NTFS compression applied to them — Outlook already compresses the data, there’s no benefit to compressing it twice.

I heard about not bad application-ost pst, it know how convert all information from Microsoft Exchange (files with the .ost extension) into files of the Microsoft Outlook mail client (.pst files) - OstToPst procedure, easily move your messages, contacts, notes, meetings, reminders, tasks and all other information, convert OST PST file when the user account has been deleted from the Microsoft Exchange server.
