Great router, just set one up for my dad to plug his printer into. Does anybody have experience with plugging USB Hard Drives into the USB port on one? I’m curious if it will power portable ones and also what can I expect for speed? Secondly, USB Hubs with the SharePort.. yea or nay?

I think I have a trojan, I keep getting popups in the form of a brand new firefox window with a web address of sagispul.com or something like that… I googled it and I see someone has the same problem.
the facts are that…
A. my windows firewall has disabled itself
B. Symantec Antivirus is not able to be opened without the windows installer screen coming up, so basically it is useless.
C. and I keep getting random popups to this web address…

Am I going to regret it? I’ve got 4GB of RAM, and it doesn’t seem to be using any more memory than it used to…everything seems to be running the same or slightly faster (could be the placebo effect though).
i have just found it is better to let Windows control that stuff.
Disabling swap in Vista doesn’t do what it used to do in XP, because Vista runs like Windows Server — it caches as much stuff in RAM as it can, instead of putting it in the swapfile. By the time the Vista swapfile starts getting hit a lot, it’s because you’re out of RAM and you really do need the swapfile.

Hmmm….something’s obviously screwed up here (and it’s still counting as we speak)
Turns out there’s a bug in the mail server that’s created an extra ".mai" file for every email the server’s sent the last 3 years . Downloaded and installed their hotfix to take care of the problem, now I gotta clean up though. Need to delete all .mai files in a directory, > a million at least.
So Windows Explorer is out of the question obviously,

nope, though I am interested and can’t wait for them to be mainstream
No way son…dem shits is too expensive at the moment.
I’m using a 300x (~45MB/s) CompactFlash card plugged into an IDE adaptor for my computer’s pagefile, but that’s it. The OS and data are still stored on a three-disk RAID.

My friend’s brother gave me his old laptop because it had a blue screen problem and he got a new one. So I now have a Dell M1210 which I just got and, though I haven’t reformatted, booted into Backtrack 3 off my USB drive. I found out that I can use the wireless card in it to test wireless security like WEP since it supports packet injection which is awesome. However I also like using Backtrack 3 on a daily basis. I want to put it on a SD card so and just keep it in the SD slot so when I feel like using it I don’t have to have a USB drive sticking out of the side. Can anybody recomend me a SD card that I can use for this? I really don’t know too much about them since I have really never dealt with them. I just want a fast one that will work with my machine and that I can boot backtrack 3 from. Suggestions?

so i have a website, and i want them to put in a date and time and be able to push a button and have it automatically put an event on someones outlook calendar.
this is an internal website so it’s known that they’ll all have outlook and it also means i can use some trusted site features like maybe putting a file on their computer somewhere.
so what would be the best way to go about doing this. i could generate an .ics file and e-mail it to them as an attachment but then they have to open the e-mail, attachment, and add it themselves and i would prefer it did this automatically.

I was looking into getting a decent sound card for my laptop, ideally something that uses the Expressport as I’m getting sick of plugging external boxes into my laptop (2 external harddrives, a monitor, cooling pad, etc…).
I was looking at the Creative Extreme Xi-Fi, and the reviews are both good and bad:
Does anyone have experience with this or any others?
Ideally, I would like to plug in my HD box into this and then output through my speaker system. My HD box has an optical output.

A couple months ago, I had to format my sisters computer, and the license number on the bottom of the laptop wasn’t working with the activation thing so rather than sort it out with microsoft I just used some crack thing I think I got from torrents. This worked fine, windows update worked fine, everything seemed legit. Now out of nowhere, upon rebooting this morning it won’t let you login without activating which is not working. I can get into it via safe mode but I have no idea what to do. Any thoughts? I’m hoping I can just crack it again somehow, but if not I guess I have no choice but to wipe it.

Alright so I just got my first laptop, it says it’s WiFi enabled but I brought it to school today and it won’t get online… my iPhone works just fine so the network is cool. How do I get my laptop to work with wireless internet? Do I need to buy some special modem or something? I figured it wass all internal. Sorry I know shit about computers.
Read the manual, look for a switch on the case that turns the WiFi on. Most laptops have switches to turn the WiFi on/off to save power.
