PC repair in Texas now requires a PI license.
lol, i hope none of you are in the computer repair business down there, you’ll need to get a criminal justice degree just to fix computers.
that makes absolutely no sense. i wonder if every PC tech will have to do it or if each place has to have a license and can then sponsor the rest of the people or something.
i can’t imagine that this will last. people who do PC support don’t have fucking degrees. if you had a degree and you are doing PC support, you’re doing something wrong (unless you just got out of school and have little to no experience).
can anyone explain to my what having a PI license has to do with working on a home PC? fuck, i wouldn’t want any of those people fixing my shit because now they’ll start digging for stuff. i guess that’s why TX is doing it because it is a way to snoop on people.
by the way, at what point in time can we just fucking send TX back to Mexico?

maybe pc techs are expected to search the computers for warez and kiddie porn these days
that’s fucking illegal. no one has the right to just go through your private shit for any reason. that is a fundamental right that the US was built upon. that is one step before the police being able to search your house or your car without a warrant.

Something simple like removing spyware using some spyware removal programs or replacing hardware and so on, is not affected by this.
However if you work for a company that monitors your internet usage they the people that do the monitoring need to have a PI license since they are collecting this information to give to someone else within the company.
Yeah, I don’t know how this turkey read into this bill so badly. If you take the time to read the bill there’s barely any mention of this affecting PC repair – only as it pertains to security.
