However, I am having a shitload of problems trying to format it to Fat32.

I tried on both vista and XP by running the cmd prompt. format /FS:FAT32 x:
and it runs to at least 85% (when i checked them) and then at the end it says the drive is too big for fat32. It’s a pain in the ass cause it takes about 4 hours to get to that point then it fucking says it.

Anyways, I tried swissknife as well, but it kept getting install errors.

This is pissing me off cause i’ve had the drive for almost 48hrs and havn’t been able to use it yet.

Anyone know another way, or program I can use to format it? I also tried using ubuntu to do it, but I had no idea what I was doing with ubuntu.
I think Windows has a FAT32 limitation of 32gb. Check the manufacturers website and see if they have a partition utility. Maybe a 3rd party app will do it?
The FAT32 file system in Windows XP is limited to 32GB by default.

I know there are ways of manipulating the cluster size in Windows or using 3rd party software to achieve higher capacities. I haven’t had any reason to do so personally but think that PartitionMagic can do it easily.

Again, I have no experience with >32GB FAT32.
use a linux live cd and do i that way

ubuntu has a partition editor and you can make fat32 partitions all day long

You can do it in win98

but supposedly MS decided to put a limit on it with XP+ to force people to adopt NTFS

Win 98 has issues with drives larger than 100 gigs though. ME would be the next best thing, but I think that’s limited to 137 gigs.

Fortunately the question has already been answered so there was no reason to bump the thread again.
