You can create (or modify) folders that deny access to admins
but, as an admin, you can take over ownership of any file, right?

anyway, that isn’t new to vista. i know i’ve seen that in XP when someone created a file/folder and took away everyone else’s permissions.

How do you disable UAC without Vista bitching at you constantly about it, anyway?
I’m aware you can restrict files, and aware you can unrestrict them. But I created these files on my one and only user account

There are a few ways…. Go to msconfig -> tools and scroll down to disable UAC, select and hit launch. Requires a reboot.

I got some error like that the other day while trying to delete a folder. It was nothing a reboot couldn’t fix…

Another method, if you have Vista Ultimate is to set UAC to auto accept all requests. Its then still active but won’t bother you. This can be done with other versions of Vista via the registry, its an option in Ultimate.

that’s why Microsoft releases the Home and Basic versions of it’s OSes…. NTFS permissions have been simplified/stripped for those users.
