I have a Dell Insprion 1520 laptop with an Nvidia 8600M GT gpu. I’m reading about the huge problem that nvidia is having with that particular chip. So, I wanted to start monitoring my system temps to keep an eye on it. Are there any good monitoring tools that can help keep track of my temps over time? I’d like it to just run in the background and be able to bring it up periodically as well as have it pop up an alert if it goes over certain thresholds.
rivatuner
hwmonitor
everest

i think everest can alarm
man, i know i had this pretty decent app a few years ago that did what i’m looking for. it used to run in the taskbar and start on bootup. i remember having to choose which sensors i wanted to monitor and i could add/remove sensors at will.

anyway, hwmonitor is showing that my gpu temp is currently 121degrees. anyone know what is an acceptable temperature range for these things?
mbmonitor used to be the shiz, but there’s not support for it anymore.

that better be F, if that’s C, that’s can’t be right….

imho, 70-80 load for a gpu is okay, 90c would be my limit.

what do other people report online?

yeah, that was F. i just started poking around earlier and found that mine was pretty normal so far.
