I have a DWL G510 adapter and I am trying to connect to a WPA or WPA2 encrypted connection I setup on my router WRT54G router. I can however connect to the network when I setup the protection as WEP.

The operating system is XP SP2. Anyone have any idea what I can do to fix this? The adapter does support WPA and WPA2.
First thing I would do is hop on the router’s log and see why it is denying access.

When you set the router and adapter to WEP or just the adapter?

Long shot, but what Antivirus do you use? Symantec Antivirus v11 had an issue where it would block you from connecting to WPA, WPA2 networks… They released an update to correct that issue.

When I set the router to WEP encryption the other computers can can connect perfectly to it.

I am using avast.
make sure you have the latest drivers. i was fixing my roommates wireless once and he could connect to wep but not wpa and a driver update fixed it.
I do. The thing is I have 1 other computer and 2 laptops that will also not connect to a WPA or WPA2 encrypted network.
Go do windows update
and this:

If that doesn’t work try this one:

and yes, if those don’t do it, drivers. When you set protection as WPA or WPA2 does the wireless network connection screen wiht all the available wireless networks detect the type of security properly? (if its WPA does it say that youhave WPA security, same for wpa2)
I’ve always had a lot of issues with XP SP2 and WPA/2 networks.
