Thinkpad memory upgrade?

I’ve got an old Thinkpad T43 type 2686 that I’ve had for years, the thing is a fucking tank and still runs quite well. Thinking of replacing the single 512mb stick of ram with this:

I’ve never replaced laptop RAM before (can’t imagine that its terribly difficult?) and wanted to double check that this is the proper type? IBM’s aren’t terribly picky about certain brands of RAM are they? Should I be looking at a different brand?

Also is the ultrabay battery something any of you guys use? I use this machine outside a lot and wouldn’t mind an extra hour or so.

Two ram slots total on this machine? It’s only $40 to swap it out with matched sticks? I dunno, lots of reasons. Mostly because I feel like it.

Gracias.

I see your point – I’m just too much of a cheapskate to simply toss half a gig

My brother and dad both have T43’s as well. We all got them the same year, so I’ll probably toss my old stick into one of those machines. Amen on being a cheap fuck, took me about two months to convince myself to recycle an old PIII machine I’d had sitting around forever. I almost pulled the 8 gb hard drive I thought I’d never fill up.
