Video Card question

I have a Raideon(sp?) 9600 128MB card in my computer right now…

I just got a computer from a friend who didn’t want it anymore and he has a Gxforce(sp?) 5500 256MB video card in his….

Would that be a better video card for me to use? Would I be able to just unplug mine and plug that one in? Plug and play i think they call it?
The 9600, assuming it’s not the SE, would be better.

That being said, yes you could swap the cards out however it would be best to first completely remove the ATI drivers and of course install the nVidia drivers. Driver Cleaner Pro is great for really cleaning out drivers.

In my own personal opinion; I prefer nVidia period. For that card get some older drivers like the version 84.21 since the newer drivers might not even bother to help as much for that old of a card (even the 8x.xx drivers might be more than the card really needs) and are more simpler.
From what I’ve seen of ATI drivers they seem to take more resources to run.
