What’s the best MP3 software?

Currently I use iTunes because I have an iPod, unfortunately it’s a slow, bulky piece of shit for Windows. Does anyone have any other recommendations?
Winamp Pro plays and encodes mp3’s, aac, ogg, and so on. It also has free radio stations and a playlist builder that analyses your music to figure out which songs will go well together. It also syncs with all popular media players, including the iPod.

It costs $20, but to me that’s a small price to pay for a really good product that I’ve been using for ten years now. There’s also a free version if you don’t want to shell out the cash.

And with Jammix Enhancer, you don’t just get to whip the llama’s ass, you dominate it.

Songbird. It looks like iTunes, but without the bulky and the suck, free and open source. There are also tons of add-ons to customize the app, and it supports MP3 players such at iPods
won’t you still have to use itunes to sync the ipod? isn’t that a pain in the ass?
For Windows, I’m a fan of MediaMonkey.
I .. "acquired" the paid version, and it works well
this thread makes me want to install winamp pro again. I think I’ll do that tonight.

anybody know if you can sync and setup playlists with a creative zen sleek photo?

IIRC, there is a Winamp plugin to sync with the Ipod.
I like Foobar.

But I don’t really have a choice, since all of my playlists have 20k+ songs

I can’t imagine having that many songs…. I can just fill up a 4gig Ipod with my music…

Yes, you can.

I’ve ripped more than 40gb of music from CDs to my computer in a day

.

Girlfriend really likes JetAudio but I haven’t tried it out…

nice…doing that tonight! I am excited now.
Amarok is the best ever ever.

It’s coming to Windows, but not there yet.

It doesn’t count if you don’t listen to it, pack rat.

It won’t beat Winamp.
I used Winamp many moons ago but switched to iTunes (aside from getting an iPod) because I liked the layout and being able to search

Songbird is the shit, I love it
you can search in winamp…

I think most people don’t know of 90% of the stuff you can do with winamp

not to mention the fact that you mentioned the layout… how many skins are there for winamp? 100,000? a million?
I used to skin my Winamp, but the new v5.5 skin is a lot more modern than the original layout, and it works really well.

Like CodeX said, Winamp is a very capable program, it just doesn’t advertise its features very well.
Meh… Who cares about skins as long as the program works…

I used Itunes when I had an Ipod and it was fine. I now have a Zune and use the Zune software. While I’m not a fan of it, I just load my music and go. Haven’t put any new stuff on it in months.

I do listen to all of it. Playlists just sit on shuffle all day
I like Winamp as well… although I have also used Media Monkey before to sync my iHP-120.

I know I can search, sorry I meant more about how it’s sorted

Wow, you can afford to pay attention to music all day every day? I wish my job were that easy.

What about how it’s sorted?

iTunes on Windows adds MobileMe to the Control Panel It really sucks. What’s with Apple? I’m not interested in "push" e-mail for $99 a year

I use foobar2000 for my day-to-day listenings.

Congratulations, you discovered my sarcasm!

My point is, if he’s doing anything else that requires focus, then he’s not actually listening to the music; it’s just making noise in the background.

People saying winamp are 20 or older I bet, people saying other shit are younger…

Not that either is a bad thing, just when MP3’s first came out and napster was the big thing it was winamp or nothing, and I still contend that as far as free media players go it is the most capable, feature rich, customizable, and most importantly mature (as in the code, bug free) program there is

This post makes next to no sense. I also used to use bsplayer, back when it was the shit for when it came to playing movies. I moved on to MPC, and then VLC, and now KMPlayer.

I used to use Winamp, but I learned very quickly that it’s support for large media libraries and playlists was mediocre at best, and prolonged use would eventually corrupt the files, requiring a complete uninstall, reinstall. So I looked for alternatives, and stumbled upon foobar. I also tried QMP, but it wasn’t for me.

Would you still use Windows 3.1 for Workgroups, just because it was all or nothing back then?

Ah, so because it had bugs ten years ago, those bugs surely still exist, right?

Try again. Use logic this time.

I am sure that happens

Where in the world did I say that? Try using reading skills next time

My point was simply that his argument makes no sense. "The only people recommending new stuff are under 20! They weren’t here when winamp was the only thing around! Everyone who has used winamp sticks with it!"

Try putting a 23,000 song playlist on winamp 3. See what happens.
